Cognitive Autonomy in Aerial Systems: The Role of Agentic AI

Description

This keynote explores how Agentic AI can redefine autonomy in aerial systems by enabling machines to reason, plan, and act with structured intent. Within this framework, the SIRB-AI Officer operates as the cognitive layer of the SIRB ecosystem, translating high-level mission objectives into coordinated, verifiable behaviors across diverse aerial platforms. Built on a fusion of knowledge-driven reasoning, adaptive learning, and explainable control logic, the proposed framework supports autonomous decision-making under uncertainty while maintaining human interpretability and operational safety. The talk will highlight how this architecture advances mission-level autonomy, moving beyond perception and navigation toward intent-aware coordination and system-wide validation. Through use cases spanning ISR, search-and-rescue, and contested-airspace operations, it illustrates how Agentic AI can evolve from a conceptual paradigm into a deployable capability for real-world aerial missions.
