Agence de l’Innovation de Défense
Director
Description
Born in 1969, Patrick Aufort began his career in 1994 in the field of electronic warfare, first as a technical specialist in signals intelligence and then as system architect for the Rafale aircraft’s self-protection system.
In 2002, he was appointed brand architect for the Hawkeye program. He oversaw, in particular, the reception of the third French Hawkeye and the qualification of its associated standard, as well as ICAO compliance and the major modification of AWACS radar.
In 2006, he was appointed manager of the domains of centers, telecommunications, and command within the Air Command and Control System (SCCOA). His work led to the delivery of the first two operational digitalization levels of air bases and the transfer of the air operations command and control center to Lyon Mont-Verdun without interrupting the permanent security posture.
In 2009, he joined the “Aeronautical Armament Operations” management unit as manager of maritime patrol aircraft, where he led the renovation of the Atlantique 2 aircraft.
From 2013, he headed the management segment of the Mission and Support Aircraft (AMS) management unit, responsible for all mission aircraft: airborne detection and control, carrier-based surveillance, maritime patrol and surveillance, intelligence, civil security aircraft, and testbed aircraft.
In 2015, he was appointed Director of DGA Propulsion Testing. He introduced digital simulation into personnel training and test preparation, and implemented new operational modes for contract testing, notably resulting in the signing of a partnership agreement with the Safran group.
In 2018, he took over as Director of DGA Project Engineering. He worked to optimize the management of technical resources, developed systems engineering and simulation methods, and adapted the center to the challenges of digital transformation.
Patrick Aufort was appointed Deputy Director of the Defence Innovation Agency (AID) on October 1, 2020, and then Director on March 15, 2023, by decree of the President of the Republic.
Knight of the Legion of Honour, Officer of the National Order of Merit, and auditor of the 51st Armament and Defense Economy session of the IHEDN, Patrick Aufort is married and father of two children.
