President and CEO of the French Met Service Météo France since September 2019. An engineer by training, she has dedicated her career to public service and specialised in public policies in the areas of energy and environment, notably climate change.From 2014 to 2019, Virginie Schwarz
served as Director of Energy at the French Ministry of Environment. In this role, she was in charge of national policies and regulations related to energy, including security of supply, the development of the energy transition and renewable energies, oversight of public enterprises, international cooperation, and European affairs. She previously held various positions including that of Deputy Director General, in
DEME, the French public agency in charge of ecological transition. Virginie also worked in New York for the "United Nations Development Program"(UNDP) as senior advisor on climate change mitigation where she led the design and launch of an initiative to help sub-national authorities to develop mitigation and adaptation climate plan.
