SNCF Réseau
Director of Strategy and Digital Transformation
Description
Professional Biography Emmanuel Cox
Emmanuel Cox started his career within the SNCF Group in 1991 following his graduation
from NEOMA Business School. He began as a marketing manager for Fret SNCF (now
Hexafret), before moving to the Regional Transport division (TER), where he successfully
pioneered the company’s first customer relationship management (CRM) programs.
Between 2004 and 2007, Emmanuel oversaw subsidiaries and key projects audits,
particularly concerning information systems. This role enabled him to develop a
comprehensive strategic vision across the entire SNCF Group. He later lead a complex,
large-scale program in 2008 to overhaul the maintenance systems for locomotives and
railcars, a change that impacted over 10,000 users.
After a tenure with the SNCF Foundation, Emmanuel returned in 2014 to deploy a digital
innovation program centered on the Internet of Things (IoT) and connected sensors. This
initiative paved the way for his appointment in 2017 as the Digital Transformation Officer
(DTO) at SNCF Réseau, where he was directly involved in the company's digitalization
across data strategy, digital support, and establishing a transformation accelerator.
As a passionate advocate for collaborative approaches, Emmanuel is a founding member
and Vice-President of the Innovation Makers Alliance. He also initiated the Rail Open
Lab, fostering open innovation across the railway sector. Committed to envisioning digital's
future beyond individual corporate interests, he actively works to create shared digital service
platforms, notably UBIRAIL for immersive educational content.
Looking ahead, in 2024, he established the AI Lab to foster the adoption of Generative AI at
SNCF Réseau through a holistic, 360-degree approach. In 2025, he was appointed to
coordinate the company-wide deployment of Gen AI.
